Cross-Country Skiing

Blackhawk Ski Club is home to over 2 kilometers of dedicated Nordic ski trails (skate and classic) made with artificial snow base. Portions of the trail are adjacent to alpine slopes, which makes for fantastic training ground.  Other portions wind through wetlands, along Black Earth Creek, and through a small stand of trees. When natural snow allows, our trail system expands to include a 2-mile serpentine loop through tall pine trees at the top of the alpine hills near the East Chalet. Our trails connect to the expansive trail system at Pleasant View Golf Course and adjacent CXC trails, via a trail made possible by generous cooperation with our neighbor. Trails at Blackhawk are open anytime, though we ask that members yield to young skiers during lessons and practices and to avoid those times in the early season as the trail is being snowed.

Preferred parking for Nordic skiing is at the West end of the West Chalet parking lot, where the ski trail begins. You may also walk down the hill between the Nordic trail and the winter bike trail (please try not to walk directly on the trail). Parking is also available at the Ski Jump Chalet parking lot (at the bottom of the hill) but requires a 4WD vehicle during the winter. Parking can also be found at the East Chalet, and you can access the artificial snow loop via skiing or walking down Hill 6. Please use caution making your way down the alpine runs and do not climb/descend Hill 4 on the West side when it is open for alpine skiing.
