Ski jumping is a year-round sport at Blackhawk! Our jumping facilities are some of the best in the nation. Blackhawk was the first ski jumping club in the Western hemisphere to successfully install plastic mats for year-round training. All of Blackhawk’s ski jumps have plastic mats and steel track for training in the non-snow months.
Ski jumps are designed for the jumper to fly close to the ground and to land safely on the hill. This is an individual sport that stresses good sportsmanship and encourages kids to improve their personal records.

The telemark turn dates back to the late 1800's when it was introduced at a ski jumping competition in Norway. While the technique may be well over 100 years old, it is still alive today thanks to its utility and versatility, a few refinements of the technique, a major evolution of the equipment, and the pure grace, exhilaration, and enjoyment one can find with the sport.
Whether the skier prefers the groomers or off-piste, telemarking has something to offer everyone, and the telemark program at Blackhawk Ski Club can help skiers of all levels find their way.

Blackhawk's Outreach Program provides at-risk kids with an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in winter when they would otherwise be pent up inside. The participants, children ages six to 12, come from the Madison School and Community Recreation after school program.
Volunteers from Blackhawk Ski Club and Madison Nordic Ski Club teach the kids how to cross country ski. All kids now have a better appreciation for winter and the many recreational opportunities that are available.
